Pornography; It Won't Hurt Her

"The Internet Is Meant For Porn"  "Everyone Watches Porn" are a couple of the phrases I have heard in the recent media.  Our culture has normalized the viewing and using of pornography.  We are now just beginning to learn the profound and long-term effects on intimacy in relationships and marriages.  In my practice I work with men and women from the ages of 15 on who do not know how to have "normal" relationships.  This means they don't know how to talk to, flirt with, engage fully with a potential romantic partner.  Notice I use the word "romantic" which is baffling to many.  Because pornography gives a false impression of what women, and men, want from sex and intimacy, anyone who has been exposed at an early age; 5 years old to 14 or 15, is guessing at what reality between two interested parties looks like.
